why does food say nutrition content before even cooked? I never understood why some food has the calories and nutrition information for the food before prepared and after prepared....if its a food that needs to be cooked, why bother putting the information before its cooked?
Is there any food that contains all the nutrition you need? is there any food out there that could be the only food you ever eat and would provide everything you need. for example, special k protein plus appears to have a good amount of all the vitamins, high iron, high protein, high fiber, etc. Is this type of food self contained complete nutrition in every area? are there any others if so?
Cost to get a food lab to analyze the nutrition content of a certain food? I would like to know the nutrition content of a certain food (i.e. total calories, fat, protein, carbohydrate, etc.). I know there are resources in the internet that can help you find out if you know the ingredients, but let's say I don't have the recipe to make this food. Thus, I am thinking of asking a lab to analyze the food. How much money should I be preparing for this typically, and what do these labs usually need (e.g. food samples, etc.)? Note: I am in Singapore.
Why am I so obsessed about food/nutrition? I am 14, and have been thinking about becoming a nutritionist/dietician since I am interested about health, but I was wondering if this is actually something I want to be, or if I am just a teen obsessed about food and calories. I know this is kind of stupid to ask because how are you suppose to know, but I was just wondering if there are any other girls out there who are like me.
food nutrition job? food nutrition job is this a hard job ? how much money you earn per hour ? thanks
Where can I complain against false Nutrition Facts on food package? I have bought some commodities from Indian grocery shop in Bay area. It is really a bad experience seeing all the lies they put on Nutrition Facts label. They just put anything on any item, I usually buy after looking at the Nutrition facts, after coming home and some research I found what that put on package is just plain false. I really want them to be punished for playing with consumers health by providing wrong information and there by breaking the law. Just to clarify, I am in Sunnyvale, California USA.
List of food nutrition facts??? Can anyone give me lists of food nutrition facts, for example, the nutrition information about tomato or oranges??? I need those information for my school Home Economics project.
Help from someone who has an successful AKC how dog??? and someone who knows about dog food nutrition??? I have a 3 month old AKC registered lab that I am going to be showing in conformation. She meets the standards to show and has a great temperment for it. I have been feeding her Eukanuba but have recently heard many bad things about it. I am looking for a food that will provide her with lots of nutrition and help her coat, teeth, growth, etc. for conformation. Any ideas of a good, healthy brand?? Also, If you have any tips on things I need to do or have to raise a show, please let me know. Thanks!!!!!
Based on nutrition listed, what food should I go with for my two great danes? I have a 3 year old Great Dane with joint problems and sensitive skin and a 6 year old Great Dane with smaller frame who is very active and doesn't act like a senior at all. I was thinking about putting them on a really good healthy food and I've narrowed it down to Innova Large Breed. The only thing left to decide is whether I should put them both on Senior or Adult. On one hand the 6 year old is a senior and the 3 year old has joint problems, like senior dogs. On the other hand the 3 year old is an adult and my 6 year old is much more energetic and active than he is. So I took the nutritional break down of both foods and found these to be the biggest differences in content: Adult formula has more than extra 50% of Leucine, Folic Acid, Omega 3, Fiber than the Senior. Adult also has more than extra 25% of Fat, Biotin, Linoleic Acid as compared to the Senior. All other dosages are virtually the same. So, in my case, are these extras good for my dogs, or is Senior the way to go? Please don't forget to tell me why you think one is better. Thanks! So far no one has answered my question. :o( -I have already decided on the dog food type, so I am not interested in new dog brand suggestions or feeding raw. -Both of these are large breed. One is for adults, one is for seniors. Does no one know what these ingredients are and why it would benefit my dogs to have more or less of them? Thank you. K K - thank you so much for actually answering the question. This makes sense. Great advice!
What is the best food to eat for nutrition and to lose weight? I read on here that indian food is very fattening. I am sorry to hear that. Can tapeworms consume a significant amount of nutrition from food a human host eats? If a person has tapeworm will the tapeworm eat up a significant amount of nutrition from the food the person eats? I only recently found out about tapeworms (in humans) and I know that I haven't gained much weight for a while now and I'm wondering if I might have them because it seems that it's hard to know if you do or not... I guess I'll have my stool checked by a doctor just in case. I haven't ever noticed any worms or anything moving in my stool and I don't believe the end of a worm has ever come out of my butt.
high nutrition food chart??? where can i find a chart on high nutrient foods...vegetables and fruits...im 16 and an inch taller than my father but still short...its not genetics on how you grow taller....i want to know what is the high nutrient food diet of the dutchs...they are the tallest people on the world
mouse nutrition/food? My pet store in town has given me a bag of rat pellets for free and i was wondering if i could feed it to my mice if I also give whole grain bread, hamster seed and greens. Is this possible? If this isn't a good idea can you list a mix of food to feed mice? (no stores sell mice feed in bulk) Jordan- Rats need less fat then mice, so that is why i would need to supplement the rat food with seed. I have been to all pet stores within a radius of an hour and there are no big bags of mouse food. And i live in Canada and cannot order over the internet since i do not have a credit card. And yes i do no there is food specifically for mice, but as i said above, i cannot get ahold of food made in stores. once more i live in a small community in the okanagan that does not have any big stores. except for pet cetera and total pet and neither have mice/rodent food in large bags. in small bags yes, but if I go through alot at 8 dollars per bag per week it gets really expensive. Not to be rude of course but im asking a simple question and if you could also add why it isn't okay that would be great too.
Baby food for nutrition? My mother and I are in a little disagreement. My son is a little over 8 months old and when I asked the pediatrician about feeding baby food, he said that he doesnt need any specific routine, that his main source of nutrition comes from formula or breast milk until hes a year old. He also said until he is a year, feeding baby food is mainly for experimentation. I feed my son baby food almost everyday... some days ( not many ) when I am busy, he might not get any... so, I guess my question is... Does he need to be on a specific schedule for baby food for his nutrition? Or is his pediatrition correct?? Thank you so much.
Dog Food & Dog Nutrition? Quote from http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/anutmed.htm#poop: "Scientists theorize that mineral deficiency subjects us, and our animals, to more diseases, aging, sickness and destruction of our physical well-being than any other factor in personal health. A groundswell of nutrition conscious veterinarians are beginning to recommend to their clients that they supplement their animals diet with a daily dose of flaxseed oil, coconut oil and other nutrients for optimum health and vitality. The food your animal eats should provide all of the nutritional components which are necessary for all organs and systems of a healthy body to perform in harmonious unison." Does anyone know if there is a Dog Food out there which will provide all the necessary nutrients my pup needs? Or will I have to buy supplements, in addition to, the food I am currently buying. Right now, she eats "Pedigree; Adult Complete Nutrition". Yes, it SAYS COMPLETE, but is it? LOL Ok, I should have been a little more specific. My "pup" is a little over a year old. She's 50% pitt, 25% shepherd and 25% lab. I call her a "pup" cuz she acts like one. LOL. She's a big girl, though. Anywho... I originally asked this question cuz my "pup" eats her "poo". We also have another dog, 100% pitt. She is 11 yrs old. My other dog does not and never has (that I am aware of). In doing some research, MOST sites stated that she eats her "poo" because she is lacking some important nutrients in her diet.
Food and Nutrition Help? PLEASE? I just finished doing my "3 day food diary" assignment for food and nutrition class. We had to record everything we ate/drank and also our daily physical activity, ex. walking, sports, etc. My question is: Why was there space provided to include daily activity? How might activity level affect eating habits?

I have question about dog food? Maxximum Nutrition Walmart Brand...any good? Hello, Just a question to those who know more than I. I have been trying to get myself more educated as to dog food, especially, since this recall. I have a 4 year old chow retriever who is slim, fit, and happy on what he is. It is not the cheapest dog food because I think all that stuff is just crap pretty much. I was looking at this Maxximum Nutrition Walmart brand and was curious if it was any good. To other dog owners out there I am a little paranoid about the recent dry dogfood recalls I was wondering if someone could point me in the directions of a good dry dog food brand that should be completely safe. Some of the local stores in my town do not even have full recall information out. So anything you have that may help me will be really appreciated. Thankyou so much for your time I do appreciated it. Sincerely, Jammie a concerned dog owner.

Detailed Recipe for every dog complete nutrition adult dog food, not treats!? Of the hours of researched I've done on the web, I have yet to find an actual dog Food recipe. All I've ever been able to find are treats or specialty meals. I'm looking to make a dry dog food that has complete nutrition for my adult large terrier mixed-breed dog. A recipe that hopefully includes the measurement/amount of every ingredient, what kind and what amount of any vitamen/mineral supplements needed, and cooking/storing instructions. *crosses fingers for a pet nutritionist to answer!!!* ^_^
Dog food nutrition experts please? Need opinions on new food? Have you heard of *'taste of the wild'* brand pet foods? I went to purchase Petfood today and almost bought this new brand instead, because its *grain free* which is the ONLY complaint that I have about Canidae and Felidae. I wish they would come out with a grain free food. ANYWAY, would love to hear some thoughts on this new food from you all. I went ahead and bought some of the cat food since I was out but decided to wait on the dog food since Ive still got enough for a few more days. One of my cats bit a hole through the bag trying to get in it before I could open it! The ONLY thing that worries me is that I think its made by Diamond, their newest brand. Heres the link: http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/ Heres the link to their ingredients just click on the product....sounds better than Canidae and Felidae to me! BUT, I want to know what YOU think. http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/products/
Food/nutrition question? On food packages, under the nutritious information, how do they decide what information to put? I mean, I know there has to be more in food then just calories, fats, sugars, etc. Doesn't there? It's the same for vitamins and mineral. They usually list only about ten. Is that really all the food has in it? Just curious.
Food/Nutrition help...? My husband has stopped buying groceries. Other than what he eats...frozen pizzas and sandwiches and chips. He of course has cookies, ice cream and snacks. My problem is that we are a obese family.I have a 18 year old son and I am very concerned about his health. We have a family history of heart disease, diabetes and stroke.I just started working at a fitness center and my son came up there to work out.He blacked out and hit his head on a locker and needed stitches in his forehead. He said he hasn't eaten all day.He said he wants to eat healthy, but there isn't anything there to eat.Can anyone please tell me what I can buy to have around the house that is inexpensive, that will at least be a nutritional start for this family...at least for my son.I am so worried about his health. My husband has given up on eating healthy since his brother passed away at age 44 of a heart attack. He said he is going to enjoy food with the time he has left. What can I do for meals? Thanks
dog food nutrition question? Which is better to look for in dog food, rice or barley? I know that a completly grain free food would be best but cant find one in my area.... Anyone familiar with the difference of the affects of the two? I susepect that rice may be something my poodle is allergic to and wonder if there would be much of a difference if she had barley instead. thanks.
Questions about food nutrition...? What kind of food can contribute to heart disease? What kind of food is bad for high blood pressure? What kind of food will help lower serum cholesterol or will help keep a low cholesterol?
baby food nutrition? When you buy store bought baby food, does it really hold all the nutrients (like in fruits and vegetables)? I would think the pureeing, packaging, sitting on shelf, etc. would affect that.
Food Nutrition Labels? This may sound like an odd question, but how do scientists know how much of something is in a food. For example, how do they know how much potassium is in a fruit snack? Thank you!
